Barbara Brady-Smith’s career as a pet photographer and her volunteer work as a therapy dog handler have inspired her to highlight the restorative power of relationships between people and animals. Her debut photography collection, Hug Tails: Portraits of Therapy Pets, showcases the work of the Pet Hug Pack® of the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), a therapy-animal program founded by Tony LaRussa.
In over 200 portraits in Hug-Tails, Brady-Smith captures the dogs, cats, and miniature horse of the Pet Hug Pack® in action at various sites throughout northern California. Each photo is accompanied by a vignette penned by the therapy pet’s owner about the pet’s special talents or most meaningful connections.
