An ex-Detroit cop, a governor’s daughter, a prison nurse, a chaplain, and several prison guards are locked inside a prison with no way out, due to a computer glitch. It is the plot of this new crime fiction thriller. The tension ramps up as this group traverses six floors filled with rapists, killers, and criminal psychopaths in order to make it to the roof to call for help. All does not go well.

Adam Plantinga, currently a sergeant with the San Francisco Police Department, has written two acclaimed non-fiction books and helped crime novelists bring factual relevancy to their novels. He is now ready to share his debut novel, The Ascent, one of the most exhilarating thrillers in recent memory.

The doors to the Don Tatzin Community Hall at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center will open at 6:30. Guests are invited to enjoy coffee and sweets before the program. Orinda Books will be on-site sell copies of the book. Sweet Thursday programs are presented by the Friends of the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.
